What We Do:
We offer regular scheduled paddles throughout the spring/summer, with the majority of paddles taking place on Wednesday evenings. Day trips, overnight trips, and skill sessions are also occasionally scheduled.
Paddling in Our Area:
Campbell River offers a lot for the paddler. The Campbell River’s Estuary is a scenic setting with fine mountain views, great bird watching, and several meandering channels, nooks and crannies to explore. It is also sheltered from the wind and waves that frequent Discovery Passage. For the more adventurous you can paddle a ways up the river and enjoy fun ride down. A ferry ride to Quadra Island takes one to fairly protected paddling destinations such as Quathiaski Cove, Gowlland Harbour, Granite Bay, and Village Bay Lakes. The east side of the island including Heriot Bay, Rebecca Spit, Hyacinthe Bay, Open Bay and the Breton Islands is subject to slightly more wind, waves & currents. Discovery Passage is great kayaking for the intermediate paddler who is knowledgeable about ocean conditions. Advanced paddlers can play in the tidal race at Surge Narrows. If you are looking for fresh water paddling, there are numerous lakes in the vicinity of Campbell River. And lastly, Campbell River is a hub for expeditions to the West Coast to areas such as Nootka Sound or the Nuchatlitz, to Johnstone Strait, and the North Island.
